Rinehart Motion Systems manufactures electric propulsion and hybrid vehicle energy system components for a variety of ground vehicles. We were challenged with a request for a light weight 80kW on-board fast charger for an electrified mining vehicle to be used up to several miles below ground. The entire project hinged on meeting weight and volume targets so this could be mounted to the vehicle in the available space. The biggest challenge to meet the weight target was the high current inductors in the AC-DC and DC-DC Converter sections - unfortunately at 1,100VDC nominal DC link voltage the speed of available power transistors meant a relatively low PWM rate. Alex and the Solextract team came in, designed and delivered an efficient, liquid cooled power inductor line to solve this challenge. Invention delivered on time and on budget!

Robert Hatfield has 14 years of experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Oregon since 2004. Robert has considerable experience in high-power commercial broadcast radio antenna equipment design and construction.
Alex Faveluke offers innovative design skills honed over a 20 year career in Power Electronics. He has extensive experience in both Volume Constrained Analog Power and Power Electronics in industrial, consumer, and military field applications. These designs include power levels reaching over 100kW, voltages up to 2.5kV, and instrumentation precisions on the scale of sub-millivolt range. Alex founded Solar Extraction Technologies to develop a physical and electrical inverter topology for utility grade energy conversion.
